Because Node.js will interface with the Eclipse (for Android) and Xcode (for Apple iOS) SDKs, the latest versions of those programs need to be installed as well. PhoneGap’s next releases will rely heavily on PhoneGap CLI (Command Line Interface), and to use it requires the installation of Node.js.
